Best practices for managing multiple students in one session
I've been using TutorBoard for 6 months now and have found some great strategies for managing sessions with multiple students. I wanted to share what works for me in case it helps others!
1. Use the whiteboard sections
One of the best features I've discovered is dividing the whiteboard into sections. I create a dedicated area for each student so they can work on their own problems while I can see everyone's progress at once. This prevents confusion and keeps everyone engaged.
2. Set clear expectations upfront
Before starting, I always explain the session structure and how we'll use the tools. I let students know they can use the chat feature if they have questions, and I'll address them in order. This helps prevent everyone talking at once.
3. Use worksheets for individual work
When I need students to work independently, I create worksheets and assign them to specific students. This way, each student can work at their own pace, and I can review their work individually while others continue.
4. Take advantage of video chat
Having video chat enabled helps me see when students are confused or need help. I can quickly identify who needs attention and address their questions without disrupting the whole session.
These strategies have made group sessions much more manageable. What techniques do you use for managing multiple students? I'd love to hear your tips!
